WASHINGTON (AP) — Quinton Williams’ 15-yard touchdown pass to Jarett Hunter with a little over a minute left gave Howard a 27-23 win over Norfolk State on Saturday in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.After Grandin Wilcox kicked his third field goal of the game to give the Spartans a 23-20 lead with six minutes remaining, the Bison (3-4, 1-0) went 75 yards on 10 plays with Williams hitting Hunter in the right side of the end zone. DENVER, (KDVR) -- A Denver dog is on the road to recovery just days after his owner said he somehow ingested methamphetamine on their evening stroll.Haden Carr said his 3-year-old golden retriever Mister suddenly started acting strange when they got home. “He just wasn’t able to relax, whatsoever. He was panting a lot, he wouldn’t drink any water,” said Carr. “It appeared to me that he was having a dog anxiety attack.”Carr said he immediately took Mister to an emergency veterinarian, where blood tests revealed the methamphetamine exposure.The FOX31 story caught the attention of Westminster Fire Safety Medical Officer Eric "Odie" Roth, who specializes in K9 first aid and CPR. “There’s a lot of dangers out in the world when you own a pet," he said. (AP) — A 3-year-old in Connecticut was grazed by a bullet while lying in bed during a drive-by shooting early Saturday, police said.The child was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, East Haven Police Capt. Joseph Murgo said.Neighbors reported hearing several gunshots around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Murgo said. Venezuelans became the largest nationality arrested for illegally crossing the U.S. border, replacing Mexicans for the first time on record, according to figures released Saturday that show September was the second-highest month for arrests of all nationalities.Venezuelans were arrested 54,833 times by the Border Patrol after entering from Mexico in September, more than double from 22,090 arrests in August and well above the previous monthly high of 33,749 arrests in September 2022.Arrests of all nationalities entering from Mexico totaled 218,763 in September, up 21% from 181,084 in August and approaching an all-time high of 222,018 in December 2022, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
