RAFAH, Gaza Strip (AP) — More than 90 Palestinians, including dozens from an extended family, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on two homes in Gaza, rescuers and hospital officials said Saturday, a day after the U.N. chief warned that nowhere is safe in the territory and that Israel’s offensive creates “massive obstacles” to distribution of humanitarian aid.U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday, calling it a long and private conversation a day after the Biden administration again shielded Israel in the diplomatic arena. Antioch: 26-year-old man shot and killed, suspect arrested

A 26-year-old man was shot and killed in Antioch on Friday evening, police said.At around 6:30 p.m., police received reports of a shooting and found the man with a gunshot wound in the 800 block of Sunset Drive. Pedestrian hit-and-run, OPD investigates

(KRON) – The Oakland Police Department is investigating a vehicle collision in the area of Castro Street and 19th Street around 8 p.m. on Dec. 22. Upon officers’ arrival, they located an adult pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported to the hospital by medical personnel for treatment.  Two Antioch minors killed in fatal hit-and-run The victim was listed in stable condition.  According to the police investigation, the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene after the incident.  This is an ongoing investigation.Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPD Traffic Investigations Unit at (510)-777-8570. 

Police arrest ex-high school band staff member for allegedly molesting juvenile in 2001

(BCN) -- Santa Cruz officers arrested a former band staff member on Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting a juvenile over two decades ago, according to police.Santa Cruz police said a former student and member of the Santa Cruz High Band told the school's officials recently that a part-time band staff member, identified as Ronald Salinas, allegedly molested the former student at his residence on the West Side back in 2001. Student organization happy with changes to international student regulations

The Canadian government recently announced revised requirements for international students planning to study in Canada, and the changes have received mixed reaction. International students planning to come to Canada will now have to show they have a balance of $20,635 available after paying for tuition and travel costs, with the amount adjusted annually to based on cost of living data from Statistics Canada.They will have to have show that amount invested in a GIC, with lump sums released back to the students on a monthly basis while it remains in a stable, growth environment. A policy allowing international students to work more than 20 hours per week has also been extended to the end of April 2024, a waiver that had been set to expire at the conclusion of 2023. Police seek the public’s help in their search for an 82-year-old woman who was reported missing from Miramar.According to Miramar Police, Marie Maxi drove away from her home along the 7700 block of Alhambra Boulevard on Friday.
