A slow-moving storm system is still on track to drench Southern California with significant rain this week.After relatively mild weather on Monday and Tuesday, "business" begins to pick up on Wednesday across the region, according to the National Weather Service.There will be increasing chances of rain throughout the day, and, by Wednesday evening, most areas can expect to receive around a quarter inch of rain, NWS says.Satellite-radar composite of the atmospheric river headed toward Southern California. 2 teens arrested in man's killing in Costa Mesa

Two teens have been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a man dead in Costa Mesa last week.The shooting happened Friday evening on the 2800 block of Mendoza Drive, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department. When police arrived on scene around 5:40 p.m., they found 35-year-old Raymond Gonzalez dead from an apparent gunshot wound.Investigators immediately determined that the shooting was gang-related and one person was arrested over the weekend. On Monday, police announced that a second person was taken into custody.One of the suspects has been identified as Ryan Ivan Ramos, 18, of Costa Mesa. The second suspect is a juvenile, police said, and their name is being withheld.The shooting was not believed to be random and police said there was no threat to the greater community.The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Costa Mesa Police Department at 714-754-5252 or Detective Fricke at 714-754-4908.

Soul Asylum Strips Down in Santa Monica: McCabes Guitars in Santa Monica is more than just a store, although it is a very, very good musical instrument store. They also tune and repair instruments, and offer lessons. Best of all, they regularly host acoustic concerts. On Sunday evening, one such McCabes show was headlined by Minneapolis alt-rockers Soul Asylum.After a touching set by Louisiana singer and songwriter Victoria Williams that saw her play crowd favorites “Crazy Mary” and “Frying Pan” among others, Soul Asylum’s David Pirner and Ryan Smith (who has been in the band since 2016) took to the stage.It was wonderful to see them in a relatively intimate environment, and Pirner was in a chipper mood. The singer and guitarist told one bad dad joke after another, each one generating cheerful groans from the crowd.Musically though, they were magnificent. By Eva Rothenberg | CNNFormer fashion mogul Peter Nygard was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault in a Toronto court on Sunday, following a six-week trial.Nygard, 82, was accused by five women of attacking them in a series of incidents from the 1980s to the mid-2000s. He was acquitted of one count of sexual assault and one count of forcible confinement.A sentencing hearing will be set on November 21, prosecutors told CNN.CNN has reached out to Nygard’s attorney for comment.Nygard is also awaiting potential extradition to the United States, where he faces a federal indictment filed in 2020 in the Southern District of New York that accuses him of using his fashion business as a “façade of legitimacy” in order to conceal sex trafficking and other illegal activity. All lanes of Highway 13 open after nearby fire

(KRON) -- A vegetation fire in Oakland on Monday blocked all of the northbound lanes of Highway 13, according to a 511 alert. All lanes have since reopened. The lanes are blocked between I-580 West and Lincoln Avenue. The Oakland Fire Department said the fire is in the area of Holy Names University, which was located at 3500 Mountain Blvd. Video: Three people rappel down Transamerica Pyramid OFD said crews arrived to the scene to fight four vegetation fires. All of the fires are between the on-ramp near Redwood Road above Highway 13 and the Joaquin Miller Road exit. There are no structures threatened by the fires, per OFD. They spanned about 1.5 miles. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Paul Pelosi said he realized he was in "serious danger" when a stranger broke into the Pacific Heights home he shares with his wife, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Taking the stand Monday in David DePape's federal trial, Paul Pelosi testified that he was sleeping on the night of October 28, 2022. Mr. Pelosi said he was woken up when a "very large man" entered his bedroom holding a hammer in one hand, and zip ties in the other."He burst in the door, and that wakes me up," Mr. Pelosi testified for the jury. The home intruder stood in the bedroom doorway and asked, "Where's Nancy?" SFPD negotiates with barricaded suspect on McAllister Street

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A robbery suspect barricaded himself in a San Francisco building on Monday afternoon, the San Francisco Police Department said. Officers are at the scene negotiating with the armed suspect, SFPD said.SFPD said that officers saw the robbery in progress at about 1:38 p.m. and attempted to detain the suspect. He then went into a building on the 900 block of McAllister Street and barricaded himself, per SFPD. Officers have made contact with the suspect, but he has refused to comply with their commands. The San Francisco Fire Department is at the scene as well."At this time, we are negotiating for a peaceful resolution and additional SFPD resources such as the Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team and Tactical teams are assisting," SFPD said.
