An ambitious multi-million-dollar project begins Monday to improve safety and traffic flow along Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, including the area where four Pepperdine University students were killed in a crash in October.As part of the “Traffic Signal Synchronization Project,” crews will install communication lines between existing traffic signals on PCH between John Tyler Drive and Topanga Canyon Boulevard. Fun isn’t something you can scientifically measure, but that hasn’t stopped researchers at WalletHub from trying.The personal finance website has released a list of the “Most Fun Cities in America,” and three California cities, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles, made the top 20.WalletHub ranked more than 180 cities on 65 factors including the number of attractions, restaurant diversity, bars per capita, the number of amusement parks and sports venues and costs. Federal Glover, a Contra Costa supervisor since 2000, won’t seek reelection

MARTINEZ — Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover announced Monday that he won’t seek reelection in 2024, ending his 24-year career on the board and paving the way for a new politician to take his place.Glover, a Democrat and the first and only Black person ever to serve as a Contra Costa supervisor, announced his “retirement” from the board in a news release Monday afternoon. He did not say what he’s planning to do next. He will finish his current term, set to expire in December 2024.Before his election in 2000, he served as a city councilmember and mayor of Pittsburg, where he’s lived all his life. ‘Everybody stands to lose’: What empty office space in DC means for the city’s revenue

If offices in downtown D.C. remain empty and current leasing trends continue, the city could lose millions from commercial property tax revenue, according to a new analysis from the D.C. Policy Center.Demand for office space downtown has dwindled, according to D.C. Policy Center executive director Yesim Sayin, because companies are either not renting spaces or renting less of it. The implications of that, she said, are starting to become clearer, years after the pandemic started.“Companies are no longer leasing, and that means your real estate is no longer desirable, and that means we really do not know what those buildings are worth anymore,” Sayin said. “We also haven’t seen any sales. SAN DIEGO -- Harbor Island could be getting a 9.5-acre Topgolf as port commissioners are poised to strike a non-binding terms sheet as early as Tuesday morning. The proposed entertainment site would capture Harbor Island east. Currently, rental car parking lots make up the area slated for redevelopment. Topgolf is a multileveled driving range geared for friends coming together, taking turns driving off the same tee. Think bowling, but for golf. The lease agreement proposed would see Topgolf pay $1.5 million a year for 20 years with for, five-year lease options. This proposal is all part of the Port Authority's master plan redesign. TOKYO (AP) — The bid-rigging trial around the Tokyo Olympics played out Tuesday in a Japanese courtroom — more than two years after the Games closed — with advertising giant Dentsu and five other companies facing criminal charges.
