Rockies add Anthony Molina, a right-handed pitcher, via Rule 5 Draft

NASHVILLE — The Rockies’ quest for starting pitching continued Wednesday when they selected right-hander Anthony Molina from Tampa Bay in the major league phase of the Rule 5 Draft.Molina, 21, went 5-7 with a 4.50 ERA and 102 strikeouts through 28 games (27 starts) between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham in 2023. He was 3-2 with a 4.37 ERA in 13 Triple-A games.The native of San Joaquin, Venezuela, originally was signed by the Rays as a non-drafted international free agent on July 2, 2018.To make room for Molina on the 40-man roster, Colorado released right-hander Connor Seabold.The annual Rule 5 Draft, which comes at the end of the winter meetings, gives teams a chance to select players not protected on 40-man rosters, thus giving the players a chance to make a big-league roster. A suspect was found dead after police responded to reports of a shooting on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas with "multiple victims" on Wednesday. The university issued a social media alert to "RUN-HIDE-FIGHT" just before noon local time when shots rang out at Beam Hall, home to UNLV's Lee Business School and the Harrah College of Hotel Administration. Disturbing security camera footage shows a man sucker-punch another man who was pushing his infant grandchild in a stroller in Calabasas on Tuesday. The victim called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department around 5:42 p.m. to report the incident, which happened in the 4000 block of Lost Spring Road, a spokesperson confirmed. A new iteration of McDonald’s snack wraps could be coming to restaurants by the end of 2025, the company announced Wednesday.McDonald's said it will expand its chicken meals to meet consumers’ demands. This plan includes offering the McCrispy “to nearly all markets across the world by the end of 2025 and expand McCrispy into wraps and tenders,” a news release said. Internet predator arrested following multi-agency sting in Fontana; authorities seeking more victims

(KRON) -- A Bay Area child sex offender who served nearly three decades behind bars refused to attend his own parole hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors said. Eric Umali is serving a 16 years-to-life sentence for attempting to murder a young girl in a Redwood City apartment complex on July 19, 1996. Umali and the 9-year-old girl were neighbors, and prosecutors described the vicious stabbing as "inexplicable."Umali, 54, was denied parole Tuesday morning for at least five more years by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's Board of Parole Hearings.
