Hit-and-run driver pins CDOT worker to vehicle on I-76

DENVER (KDVR) — A hit-and-run driver crashed into a Colorado transportation worker on Monday along Interstate 76.According to Colorado State Patrol, it happened around 12:38 p.m. on westbound I-76 near the Interstate 270 off-ramp interchange. The crash was reported as a possible hit-and-run. FOX31 Newsletters: Sign up to get breaking news sent to your inbox The worker is a contractor for the Colorado Department of Transportation, CSP said.On Tuesday, CSP said the worker was standing on the side of a vehicle when a semi backed into an open door, pinning the worker between the closing door and the vehicle, CSP said. The truck driver then left the scene.CSP said state troopers later made contact with the trucker's company.CDOT closed the I-270 ramp for the investigation.

Elderly woman exploited by caretaker in South Florida

A woman who was hired to take care of an elderly woman is facing several felony charges after, officials said, she financially exploited the woman for over $100,000.Officials with the State Attorney’s Office announced the charges during a press conference, Tuesday afternoon. Eighty-one-year-old Myriam Fernandez, officials said, fell prey to exploitation by her caretaker, 61-year-old Gladys Smith, who now faces three first-degree felonies, including the exploitation of the elderly and grand theft of over $100,000.“To scammers, these homes are like buried treasure, and like the pirates of the past, they work to unearth and steal that fortune,” said state attorney Katherine Fernandez-Rundle.Fernandez, who lives with an eye disease, found herself alone after losing her Florida driver’s license following a 2021 car accident. The Boston Police Department is asking for the public’s help as it works to locate a missing woman from South Boston.Boston PD said Mary Sinnerty, 63, was last seen Tuesday afternoon around 2:15 p.m. in the area of 130 Dorchester St.Police described Sinnerty as a white female with a slim build, who was believed to be wearing a tan cardigan, white shirt, gray leggings, and dark color shoes. Mass. immigrant driver’s license law spurred massive spike in driver’s licenses, permits

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles reported a massive spike in demand in the six months after an immigrant driver’s license law went into effect this summer,  state transportation officials said Tuesday afternoon.The registry issued 91,961 new learner’s permits and 54,952 new, first-time driver’s licenses to Massachusetts residents since July 1.
