High Surf Advisory issued: NWS

(KRON) – The National Weather Service issued a High Surf Advisory beginning from 10 a.m. on Wednesday to 4 a.m. on Thursday for Central and Northern California beaches.  One dead, two injured in rollover vehicle accident The NWS forecasts large and long period swell from the west and northwest that will create hazardous beach conditions. Breaking waves are predicted to be 19 to 23 feet. For your safety, stay off of jetties, stay out of and away from the water, never turn your back on the ocean, and keep pets on a leash and away from the water.

One dead, two injured in SF rollover vehicle accident

(KRON) – One person died and two people were injured after a single-vehicle accident involved in a rollover on Monday. San Francisco police officers responded to the area of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Palmetto Avenue for the report of a single-vehicle accident at 8:26 p.m. on Jan. 1. The vehicle was reported to have been involved in a rollover.  Woman shot in car, San Francisco PD investigate Upon arrival, officers located one of the victims lying on the ground and two other victims suffering from injuries sustained from the accident. According to police, officers rendered aid to the victims. However, the victim who was lying on the ground succumbed to their injuries at the scene.Paramedics were transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  

Fire department investigating cause of blaze in Oakland Monday night

(BCN) -- The Oakland Fire Department said it is investigating a fire that occurred in the city's Rancho San Antonio neighborhood Monday night.The blaze struck a three-unit apartment building in the 1500 block of International Boulevard, according to firefighters.The fire was put under control at approximately 10:22 p.m., crews said. NWS forecasts 'bulk of rain' over Tuesday, Wednesday

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – The National Weather Service forecasts a Pacific storm system this week with the "bulk of rain" falling from Tuesday evening into Wednesday.Rain is expected to be 0.5-1.5 inches for inland regions and 1.5-3 inches near the coast. Treasured Berkeley breakfast restaurant closing after 45 years KRON4’s Weather Anchor Gayle Ong forecasts gusty winds on Tuesday. “Southerly winds upwards of 20-30 mph to develop during the heaviest downpours between 2 p.m. to 6 p.m,” said Ong. According to Ong, the showers are expected to linger into Wednesday. Ong forecasts dry weather will return late Wednesday and Thursday. However, for Friday, a quick-moving, low-pressure system is forecasted, increasing the chance of rain. On Saturday another system is forecasted. For safety, allow extra travel time and leave extra space between cars. Moderate rain with strong gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and branches. Be safe out on the roads.

Powerful earthquakes leave at least 55 dead, destroy buildings along Japan’s western coast

WAJIMA, Japan (AP) — A series of powerful earthquakes that hit western Japan have left at least 55 people dead and damaged thousands of buildings, vehicles and boats. Officials warned Tuesday that more quakes could lie ahead. Aftershocks continued to shake Ishikawa prefecture and nearby areas a day after a magnitude 7.6 temblor slammed the area.Damage was so great that it could not immediately be assessed. Japanese media reports said tens of thousands of homes were destroyed.Government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi said 17 people were seriously injured and gave a slightly lower death toll, saying he was aware of the prefecture’s tally.Water, power and cell phone service were still down in some areas. Price cuts boost Tesla 4Q sales, beating estimates as electric vehicle growth rate slows

DETROIT (AP) — Steep price cuts helped electric vehicle maker Tesla Inc. increase its fourth-quarter vehicle sales by almost 20% as EV sales growth slowed across the industry.The Austin, Texas, company said Tuesday that it sold 484,507 vehicles worldwide from October through December. That handily beat Wall Street estimates of 473,000 for the quarter according to data provider FactSet.For the full year, Tesla said it sold just over 1.8 million vehicles, up 37.7% from 2022 numbers. Full-year sales numbers fell far short of CEO Elon Musk’s prediction of 50% sales growth in most years. But the company did exceed an internal target for the year of 1.8 million vehicle sales.Tesla chopped prices in the U.S. multiple times during the year, at times by $20,000 on some of its higher-priced models.
