49ers’ red zone offense is good when it should be great The 49ers are the envy of 31 other NFL teams for their offensive weaponry. An efficient and accurate quarterback in Brock Purdy. The league’s most celebrated touchdown machine in Christian McCaffrey and another dual threat wild card in Deebo Samuel. A classic wideout in Brandon Aiyuk and an old-school sure-handed tight end in George Kittle. That doesn’t even include fullback Kyle Juszczyk, a seven-time Pro Bowler who can produce offensively when overlooked amidst the galaxy of stars. The 49ers are tied for sixth in red zone offense with 24 touchdowns in 40 trips to the 20-yard line or closer. That’s 60 percent. Miami, with former 49ers’ running game coordinator Mike McDaniel running the offense as head coach, is first at 73 percent, followed by the L.A. Chargers (66.7), Buffalo (65.9), Baltimore (65.2) with Indianapolis also at 60 percent.Tied for sixth isn’t bad. In fact it’s good. But if the 49ers have made anything clear in 2023, it’s that be...

Hamas leader in Gaza atop Israeli hit list after deadly attack By Bassem Mroue and Melanie Lidman | Associated PressThe mastermind of the Hamas attack on Israel that triggered the worst Israeli-Palestinian bloodshed in generations is a secretive figure, feared on both sides of the battle lines. In Gaza, no figure looms larger in determining the future trajectory of the war than Yehya Sinwar. But seven weeks into the war, the 61-year-old Sinwar remains alive, in hiding and at the helm of Hamas’ fighters as they battle Israeli forces. He also controls the group’s negotiations over the fate of nearly 240 hostages that militants captured during the Oct. 7 attack. With the devastating toll from Israel’s bombardme...

“Fine weather to feast on”

“Fine weather to feast on” Thanksgiving Day will feature a front in south Florida (but don’t get too excited about this one). It’s a weak fall front that’s on the move and will slowly pass across the region early Thursday. Yes, sometimes November fronts bring big cooling, but not this time. This front will lose its main cooling as it drops farther south in latitude. For south Florida it will simply allow temperatures to come down about 5-degrees so readings returning to average. It’s worth noting that Wednesday was unusually warm. In Miami, the high reached 86-degrees and that tied the record for the date! One of the main changes you’ll detect this Thanksgiving will involve “lumpy looking clouds” in the sky. These will follow the front and may produce an isolated shower. We think the better chance for rain will actually be from Friday through Saturday, as more moisture meets up with the stalling boundary. Even though we won’t get much cooling, humidity...
