TOKYO (AP) — Asian shares rose Thursday, boosted by Wall Street’s return to its highest level in more than a year after a report showed U.S. consumer inflation cooled a bit more than expected last month. Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 rose 1.3% in morning trading to 32,358.33. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 added 1.4% to 7,236.80. South Korea’s Kospi jumped nearly 1.0% to 2,599.75. DENVER (KDVR) -- A Denver Police Department detective investigated for not securing his duty weapon won't face punishment, even though his son is serving five years for using his father's department-issued weapon to commit a pair of shootings.Samuel Rose, 18, pleaded guilty on May 18, 2023, to five counts related to a pair of Littleton house shootings in May 2022 when he was 16 years old. The counts were possession of a handgun by a juvenile, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, second-degree assault and aggravated juvenile offender.His father, Denver Police Department Detective Asher Rose, faced an internal affairs investigation for violating the police department's policy for storage of any department-authorized firearms. DENVER (KDVR) -- Denver Animal Protection has received 323 calls for dogs being left inside vehicles during extreme temperatures so far this year, according to a release from the department. DAP received another 394 calls for "animals without shelter in unsafe temperatures."But it's not just happening in Denver. Lakewood Animal Control agents are reporting high numbers of pets left in vehicles so far this summer.“They have seen an increase in calls, for dogs being left in vehicles, that they’re responding to, right now,” Lakewood Police Agent Paul Osckel said.
