Man charged in abduction, stabbing, beating of domestic partner in Fremont

FREMONT — A convicted kidnapper, suspected of abducting his estranged  relationship partner in August, then stabbing and beating her while holding her hostage for a week, has been charged with multiple crimes, according to authorities and court records.The woman was finally able to escape when the suspect took her on a camping trip, authorities said.The suspect, 61-year-old Jose Terra, has been charged with felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, corporal injury to a domestic partner, battery with serious bodily injury, false imprisonment by violence and making criminal threats. He is also charged with a misdemeanor for disobeying a court order.He was arrested and charged in early September and is being held in lieu of $345,000 bail at Santa Rita Jail. DENVER (KDVR) -- One person was seriously injured in a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle Friday night, according to the Denver Police Department.The crash happened in the area of 5th Avenue and Federal Boulevard.Police said one person was taken to the hospital.The driver remained on the scene.

CARLSBAD, Calif. -- The Carlsbad Police Department said officers are investigating a critical incident in the area of Oak Avenue and Madison Street near Carlsbad Village. CPD said there is no current danger to the public or outstanding suspects, however, authorities are asking the public to avoid the area. (AP) — Thirty cows that survived a truck rollover that killed 14 others on a Connecticut highway have gotten a veterinary exam and are cleared to complete their journey, the state Agriculture Department said. The surviving animals are doing well, and their owner is arranging to truck them to their original destination in Ohio, department spokesperson Rebecca Eddy told the Hartford Courant Friday.The cattle were en route from Maine in a tractor-trailer that crashed on a highway exit ramp in Newtown early Thursday. Three people hospitalized after 2-alarm Brampton fire

Three people, including two children, have been taken to hospital after a two-alarm blaze in Brampton.Firefighters were called to a home on Hollybush Street in the area of Dixie Road and Sandalwood Parkway East just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday and were met with heavy smoke and flames. Paramedics transported one adult and two children to local hospitals with what were described as minor injuries. The ages and genders of those taken to hospital were not immediately avaialable.
