Columbia ends five-game skid beating Cornell 29-14 in season finale

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Malcom Terry ran for 90 yards on 20 carries and Columbia secured points from all three of its units in a 29-14 win over Cornell on Saturday.Though they ended the season last in the Ivy League, the Lions (3-7, 1-6) managed to snap a five-game losing streak and avoided being shutout of the win column in league play.Joey Giorgi had a 3-yard touchdown run, Caden Bell had a 65-yard touchdown run and Hugo Merry had field goals of 33, 28 and 45 yards and the Lions led 22-0 at halftime.After intermission, Hayden McDonald had a 71-yard pick-6 with with 2:49 left to end the scoring.Jameson Wang threw for 353 yards and a touchdown for Cornell (3-7, 2-5) but was intercepted three times.___Get alerts on the latest AP Top 25 poll throughout the season. Padgett, Connors lead Rice to 28-7 win over Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — AJ Padgett threw for a touchdown and ran for two more, Dean Connors rushed for 184 yards and Rice defeated Charlotte 28-7 on Saturday.Padgett was 13-of-21 for 140 yards passing, throwing a 20-yard TD pass to Luke McCaffrey for the Owls’ final points late in the fourth quarter. He also had TD runs of 5 and 2 yards. He survived two interceptions.Connors carried a load with his career-high yardage total on 19 carries for the Owls (5-6, 3-4 American Athletic Conference), coming on a day when Rice didn’t approach its average of over 277 yards passing per game. A Padgett TD run and Tim Horn’s two field goals put Rice in front 13-0 at halftime. (AP) — Jermaine Corbett ran for two touchdowns and Stonehill dominated the second half to defeat Long Island 40-23 in a season finale on Saturday.The Skyhawks (5-5, 4-3 Northeast Conference) scored 26 points in the second half to overcome a 20-14 deficit. Corbett scored both his touchdowns in the third quarter and Chris Domercant ran for a fourth-quarter score to lead the way.Corbett finished with 94 yards and Domercant had 55, leading to the Skyhawks’ 208-yard total on the ground. (AP) — Jayden Brown ran for 147 yards and a touchdown and the defense dominated the second half to lift Gardner-Webb to a 34-10 win over Charleston Southern on Saturday to clinch a berth in the FCS playoffs.The Runnin’ Bulldogs (7-4, 5-1) tied for the Big South-OVC title but beat co-champion UT Martin 38-34 on Oct. 28.
