Sterling K. Brown was the host of this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live, so naturally they did a parody of NBC’s “This Is Us.” Brown starred as Dr. Ben Carson, President Trump’s HUD secretary.
The narrator announced, ” Millions of Americans have tuned in to the show that’s captivating a nation.”
An aide asked Brown, “Dr. Ben Carson, what’s wrong?” to which he responded “All of it. All of it is wrong.” Later on in the skit, his wife has a good laugh because instead of following his career path as a brain surgeon, he tells her that he’s running the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Then the skit cuts to Aidy Bryant as White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders saying “This whole thing with the president having sex with a porn star, it just didn’t happen.” A voiceover promoting the show chimes in, saying “a drama so unnerving you can’t look away.”
In the following scene, Pete Davidson is in a pile of empty Manischewitz bottles, as he says “United Arab Emirates? Hey, this is Jared Kushner. Is there any way I could borrow like $800 million?”
The voice in the ad, then says “NBC presents ‘This Is U.S.’ The real-life drama happening in our government every day. The show critics are calling, ‘Like This Is Us, but without the parts that feel good.'”
