Police officers have been investigating the SNP’s finances for several months. Sturgeon shocked Scotland when she announced her departure as First Minister in February. Several police officers were seen outside th...Zelenskyy visits Warsaw, against backdrop of angry Polish farmers

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting Warsaw on Wednesday, where he will meet his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda in his first official visit to Poland since the beginning of Russia’s war in Ukraine.Ukraine’s leader will discuss issues such as tensions over increased grain exports to Poland — something that’s becoming a political problem as it’s annoying Polish farmers — as well as the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, supplying more weapons to Kyiv and Ukraine’s tighter integration with the EU, said Polish government spokesperson Piotr Müller.“We want to conduct these talks in the spirit of thinking about the future,” presidential foreign policy adviser Marcin Przydacz said. Zelenskyy choosing Warsaw, “shows what role we play in international politics today,” the adviser added. Zelenskyy has been in Poland before, usually in transit to other destinations or in rapid unofficial visits; this is his first “official” trip, according t...Students allowed back into MIT dorm after bomb threat

For those of you thinking the (bleep) show from last season was a thing of the past, fasten your seatbelts. We’re on to the sequel. The latest from the soap opera playing out in Foxboro reinforces the notion all’s still not right at the home of the six-time Super Bowl champions.According to ProFootballTalk, the Patriots have floated Mac Jones to at least four teams in trade talks during this offseason. Bill Belichick supposedly picked up the phone and tossed that bone to the Raiders to see if they’d bite on a possible swap for Jones. Same with the Texans, Bucs and Commanders.Holy dysfunction, Batman. That word got tossed around quite a bit last year when Belichick decided it was a good idea to have Matt Patricia and Joe Judge run the offense. Turns out, we’ve only just begun. The Big Top is back up. The circus remains inside the walls of Gillette Stadium.Robert Kraft and Belichick are at odds. That much was clear from their respective press sessions at the owner’s meetings last week.Be...It’s been 40 years since the Baltimore Orioles won a World Series — or were in one | GUEST COMMENTARY

Round number anniversaries are typically considered milestones, and so it is that the coming baseball season will mark the 40th anniversary of the Baltimore Orioles’ victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1983 World Series. The team is remembered as much for its cast of characters as for its considerable talent. There were three future members of the Hall of Fame: Cal Ripken Jr., who won the first of his two American League Most Valuable Player awards that season; Eddie Murray, the team’s home run and RBI leader, whose two homers sealed the Game 5 Series finale; and Jim Palmer, who, approaching the end of his storied career, came into the pivotal Series Game 3 in relief, and, that night, became the only pitcher ever to win a World Series game in three different decades. Those stars had a number of less-heralded teammates who helped fuel that 98-win team, and who had crucial moments in the ‘83 World Series that are entirely worthy of an anniversary acknowledgme...Report: Husband of ex-Scottish leader arrested

LONDON (AP) — The husband of former Scottish first minister and Scottish National Party leader Nicola Sturgeon has been arrested in a party finance probe, British media reported Wednesday.Police in Scotland did not identify Peter Murrell as the 58-year old man arrested Wednesday “in connection with the ongoing investigation into the funding and finances of the Scottish National Party.” However, Britain’s Press Association, the BBC and others reported it was Murrell.“Clearly it would not be appropriate to comment on any live police investigation but the SNP have been cooperating fully with this investigation and will continue to do so,” the party said in a statement released after the arrest.Sturgeon, 52, announced her resignation in February after eight years as party leader and first minster of Scotland’s semi-autonomous government. Sturgeon said at that time that serving well was knowing when to make way for someone else. “In my head and in my heart I know that time is...Outgoing Finnish leader Marin steps down as party leader

HELSINKI (AP) — Finland’s outgoing prime minister, Sanna Marin, said Wednesday that she will resign as the leader of her Social Democratic Party at the next party congress in the autumn.“Now is the time to get in line again and leave the chairman’s place,” Marin, 37, said during a news conference in Helsinki. She said she would continue as a lawmaker in Parliament. The Social Democratic Party came in third in Sunday’s election, dashing Marin’s hopes of staying on as prime minister. Finland’s main conservative party claimed victory in an extremely tight three-way race in which right-wing populists took second place.Marin, who has been prime minister since 2019, is a highly popular figure internationally and at home, but acknowledged that her premiership had put a strain on her personally.“My endurance has been put to the test,” Marin admitted. She said her Cabinet has gone through some rough periods in the past years and the center-left government has had to resort to some diffic...Latest news
