'Excessive, disappointing': Concerns grow over Texas patient safety law delay AUSTIN (KXAN) — Concerns are growing after the Texas Medical Board said it will take two years to fully implement a new state healthcare law meant to protect patients. Three weeks after the law went into effect, it's creating confusion, not confidence, among some patient advocates."I think it could be done quicker," said Dr. Robert Oshel, a former federal employee who is retired from the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, where he worked for the National Practitioner Data Bank, or NPDB, as associate director of research and disputes. A 23-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound during the second incident, according to the City of Poughkeepsie PBA. Deadly crash prompts major delays on 405 Freeway through Sepulveda Pass One person was killed in a crash on the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass area, prompting officials to close the southbound lanes Thursday morning.The crash was reported around 4:45 a.m. on the freeway near Skirball Center Drive in Brentwood, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.Two lanes are closed after a fatal crash on the 405 Freeway on Sept. 21, 2023.
