Spaniards back home celebrate La Roja winning Women’s World Cup MADRID (AP) — Spaniards erupted in joy after La Roja won the Women’s World Cup on Sunday, with some following coach Jorge Vilda’s call to take to the streets and celebrate Spain’s first major soccer title in more than a decade. Fans in Madrid, Barcelona and around the country cheered when the final whistle blew in Sydney, Australia, following Spain’s 1-0 win over England to clinch the women’s world title for the first time. The women’s triumph came 13 years after the men’s national team won its only World Cup title in South Africa. Despite many lawsuits coming after the program, UPK leaders say the program is working.More than 36,000 children are enrolled in the program so far.Beginning in August, Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program will provide 10-15 hours per week of free preschool to every child in their year before entering kindergarten. To be eligible for preschool during the 2023-24 school year, a child must be at least three years old and younger than five years old on October 1, 2023. Some families wish the program paid for full-time care.“What we know and what we've seen from a lot of our families who are applying is that half-day isn't enough,” said Dawn Odean, the Director of Universal Preschool. 1 person dead, 1 hospitalized after fatal rollover car accident in South Miami Dade A car was left mangled after a deadly drive in South Miami Dade. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a black Cadillac sedan collided with a pedestrian around 3 a.m. causing the vehicle to rollover and leaving it destroyed.The pedestrian, an adult male, died on the scene, while the driver of the Cadillac was left injured after crashing into the side of a strip mall building along US 1 near Southwest 272nd Street.First responders cut out a person from the car which was propped up against the building.Miami Dade Fire Rescue reported that once the occupant was extricated from the car, they were airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center as a trauma alert. Their condition is said to be stable, however, their exact injuries remain unknown. US 1 was shut down for most of the early morning while officials conducted a preliminary investigation.
