A former taekwondo instructor who taught in Aurora and Douglas County has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of the sexual exploitation of a child.Erik Chen, 32, was charged in July 2022 after children reported him for recording them in restrooms and changing rooms and police found CDs and DVDs with “hundreds of thousands of images of child pornography depicting girls believed to be between the ages of 8 and 12,” according to a news release from the 18th Judicial District.Chen ran summer camps at Han Lee’s Taekwondo Academy in Aurora and Lone Tree, and victims reported him recording them at recreation centers in Castle Rock and Lone Tree.Chen pleaded guilty in March to the three charges.“This defendant preyed on innocent, young children who trusted him as a camp leader,” Zoe Laird, senior deputy district attorney, said in the new release. “I hope this sentence provides some sense of closure for his victims and at a minimum it...CU Buffs vs. CSU Rams: Live updates and highlights from Folsom Field in Boulder

The youthful A’s lost their third straight game on Saturday afternoon and tied last season’s mark with their 102nd loss, falling 5-2 to the San Diego Padres. And while this year’s team still seems likely to end up with the most losses in the franchise’s Oakland history (the current record is 108 losses in 1979), the youth movement continues to build some small hope that things could be different in 2024.Rookie sensation Zack Gelof hit his 12th homer of the season on Saturday, launching a solo shot in the sixth off of Padres starter Matt Waldron, who earned his first career win — and a noteworthy one within the sport, too.Waldron, 26, primarily pitches a knuckleball and earned the win by only allowing two runs over 5 1/3 innings. He became the first pitcher to use a knuckleball while earning a win in nearly five years (the last knuckleballer to get a win was Steven Wright on Sept. 20, 2018).Waldron’s knuckler wasn’t untouchable, as the A’s batters picked up seven hits off of him. Baker left the field between the top and bottom of the inning to receive further treatment.“You hate seeing an umpire get hurt like that,” Blue Jays manager John Schneider said. “Jordan took a beating today.”The game was delayed after eight innings while second base umpire Brennan Miller changed into his gear to work the plate. In the biggest game of their careers, the pair proved that their immense talent matters far more than their lack of experience.Rodriguez masterfully twirled eight scoreless innings, while Henderson hit an early home run to break the offense out of its slump to carry the Orioles to a crucial 8-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays. The win ended Baltimore’s four-game losing streak and put the club back in sole possession of first place atop the American League East.
