Body of drowning victim recovered from Granger Lake in Williamson County Editor's Note: The video above shows KXAN Live's top headlines for Aug. 15, 2023WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- A person who drowned at Granger Lake in Williamson County over the weekend was recovered Monday afternoon. The Williamson County Game Wardens received a report of a drowning at the lake on Sunday, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, which investigated the drowning.TPWD said the person was swimming after his boat that had drifted away while he was standing in shallow water. He went underwater and did not resurface. Game Wardens and Georgetown Fire Department dive team recovered the victim on Monday afternoon.

The grants range from $50,000 to $300,000 and are awarded to municipalities to assist in purchasing forest land for the purpose of creating community forests. (WIVB) — Over $200,000 worth of allegedly stolen gold bars were found during a traffic stop in Wyoming County last month, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office. Around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, a hiker from Connecticut was found with an unstable lower leg injury along a trail. The assistant ranger splinted the ankle and was joined by fellow rangers to help the 49-year-old to Lake Colden Outpost, where she was transferred to hospital care by helicopter.Lake Colden is located by Mount Colden and the Avalanche Pass Trail. The trail runs 12.8 miles with an elevation gain of 3,061 feet, in an area also used for camping and backpacking.
