STOCKHOLM (AP) — A fatal roller coaster accident in Stockholm where some passengers plunged to the ground in June was caused by a newly installed “support arm breaking off so that the wheels on the cart fell off,” prosecutors said Wednesday.A car on the Jetline roller coaster derailed at the Gröna Lund, Sweden’s oldest amusement park. Three people fell out and a woman died. Nine others were injured.“We know what happened but still don’t know why it could happen. I am waiting for results from technical investigations that are not yet complete,” Christer B. NYON, Switzerland (AP) — A high-tech soccer ball that helps with more accurate offside decisions will make its European Championship debut next year in Germany after being used at the 2022 World Cup.European soocer governing body UEFA and manufacturer Adidas unveiled the ball for Euro 2024 in Berlin on Wednesday. It is named “Fussballliebe,” the German word for “love of soccer,” and will be used at next year’s 51-game tournament from June 14-July 14.A chip fixed on a gyroscope inside the ball sends data 500 times per second to record the point at which it is kicked. In today’s Big Story Podcast, it’s not the old former players in charge of the NHL — the guys who thought banning Pride jerseys and tape was a smart idea — who will determine the future of hockey. It’s the kids playing now, with big dreams and bright futures ahead of them, who will ultimately create whatever the game becomes. Brock McGillis is an advocate and activist, the first openly gay men’s professional hockey player, and a speaker on the Culture Shift tour. He says that making hockey a more welcoming place involves challenging conformity and celebrating all personal differences.“We are multifaceted beings, and we should embrace more of that, because the more we do, the less likely we’re going to be to judge others who are different than us,” says McGillis. So how do we make sure hockey really is for everyone? How different is the culture right now among young players? And how are the youngest players in the NHL now bringing a different approach to their locker...Biden announces 5 federal judicial nominees and stresses their varied professional backgrounds

The past few years have been rough for used-vehicle buyers due to higher prices, less inventory and rising interest rates. Compared to what people normally expect to pay from buying used, it’s fair to say the market has been discouraging. But there seems to be at least a dim light at the end of the tunnel according to Edmunds’ latest Used Vehicle Report. Broadly, the difference in average price between new and used is back to how it was in 2019.
