At Pacific Coast Termite, they are dedicated to helping homeowners answer questions about termite swarming and infestation questions. Below are a few questions and answers they wanted to share with our readers when considering termite infestation.Q: How do I know if I have a termite problem?A: You may see swarms of flying insects both inside and outside your house, usually in the spring. After swarming, the termites shed their paper-like wings and you may find them on windowsills, counters or floors. Tiny holes in wood, small piles of wood shavings, crumbling drywall, and sagging doors are all indicative of a termite infestation. Also, termites often make tubes of mud and other debris across concrete surfaces. Unfortunately, these signs indicate structural damage to your home or business has already occurred. By the time you see them, the damage has already started. Q: How do I tell the difference between a termite and flying ant?A: Termites have a straight antennae, two pairs ...‘Past Lives’: How a real-life meeting forged surreal love story

Associated more often as the scenario in which bad decisions go down late at night and logic gets tossed back like a watered-down gin and tonic, an exchange in a bar one night in New York led to something much different — one of the best movies of 2023.“Past Lives,” opening June 9 in Bay Area theaters, centers on two South Korean childhood chums who parted ways meet again on the East Coast after two decades of intermittent Facebook and Skype exchanges. Their tender reunion leads to a soul-shaking encounter that includes, you guessed it, that crucial time spent in a bar.Eloquently told, the story exudes a lived-it experience. By Samantha Murphy Kelly | CNN BusinessIt’s rare to find a new technology that feels groundbreaking. But last night, while sitting on a couch in a private demo room at Apple’s campus wearing its newly announced Vision Pro mixed reality headset, it felt like I’d seen the future — or at least an early and very pricey prototype of it.In the demo, which lasted 30 minutes, a virtual butterfly landed on my finger; a dinosaur with detailed scales tried to bite me; and I stood inches away from Alicia Keys’ piano as she serenaded me in a recording studio. When a small bear cub swam by me on a quiet lake during another immersive video, it felt so real that it reminded me of an experience with a loved one who recently passed away. I couldn’t wipe the tears inside my headset.Apple unveiled the headset, its most ambitious and riskiest new hardware offering in years, at a developer event earlier in the day. The headset blends both virtual reality and augmented reality, a technology that overlays ...Large fire at Lake Chabot Golf Course clubhouse extinguished overnight

EDITORS/NEWS DIRECTORS:This month marks the 10th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Shelby v. Holder, which dismantled a key provision of the Voting Rights Act requiring certain jurisdictions to submit voting-related changes for federal review. In the ruling, the majority on the Supreme Court found the formula for identifying which jurisdictions would be subject to federal review was outdated and pointed to increased minority participation in voting as a primary reason. The decision, a decade later, continues to reverberate across the country as Republican-led states pass new voting restrictions that, in several cases, would have been subject to federal review. Meanwhile, conservative-leaning justices remain interested in weighing other elements of the landmark 1965 law, with one case pending before the court that could make it harder for minority groups to gain fair representation. Here are some tips for localizing the story:___READ AP’S LATEST Supreme C...Latest news
